Real Madrid will reportedly look to sign Jeremie Frimpong, valued at €39 million, from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen next summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Jeremie Frimpong is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues are keen on signing the Dutch full-back from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen in 2024. Meanwhile, Die Werkself will look to recoup €39 million from the defender’s sale.

Jeremie Frimpong has come leaps and bounds since joining Bayer Leverkusen from Celtic in January 2021. The 22-year-old took little time to establish a foothold at the Bundesliga club. And he has been a productive performer for Die Werkself in the last two and a half years.

The Dutch full-back was excellent in the 2022/23 season, with his performances capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. And Frimpong has started the new campaign strongly, amassing two goals and one assist in two appearances thus far. The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid among his prospective suitors.

Frimpong has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. And the continued interest in the Dutchman is understandable, considering Dani Carvajal’s advancing years. The Spaniard has seen his performance levels wane in the last few seasons. So it behoves Real Madrid to scour the market for a long-term successor.

Meanwhile, Lucas Vazquez is ideal as a backup full-back and cannot take on the mantle of the first-choice right-back. So a young right-back with a high ceiling is the need of the hour for Real Madrid. And Frimpong has emerged as a viable target for the Spanish club.

The report claims that Real Madrid will likely launch the offensive for the 22-year-old in the 2024 summer transfer window. And Bayer Leverkusen will demand around €39 million to part ways with him next year. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga club’s manager Xabi Alonso has recommended the player to Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, the €39 million-rated full-back is also a target for Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United. And it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid can beat the competition to the signature of the Bayer Leverkusen prospect in the 2024 summer transfer window.
