Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are keen on having 21-year-old Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Piero Hincapie in their ranks.
According to a report by Fichajes, Liverpool are looking to reinforce their defence in the winter transfer market, and they have their eyes set on Piero Hincapie. The 21-year-old has been doing wonders for Bayer Leverkusen of late, and Jurgen Klopp is keen on having him at the Merseyside club in a €50 million deal.
Hincapie joined the Bundesliga club back in the summer of 2021 and has gone from strength to strength since making the move. The 21-year-old has featured in a total of 80 matches for Leverkusen and has even contributed towards five goals over the years.
Last season, he was involved in 43 matches and was on the pitch for close to 3,700 minutes. But, things have not started in the best possible way this season, he only has four appearances so far and has been on the pitch for just 113 minutes.
Hincapie served a red card suspension in the initial three matches of the Bundesliga season. As a result, he has dropped to the bench and is not the preferred centre-back at this stage. However, he is expected to be soon back in the heart of the defence as a regular given his overall quality as a defender.
The 21-year-old is one of the mainstays of the Bayer Leverkusen backline under Xabi Alonso, and his impressive performances have not gone unnoticed. Liverpool are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks.

Even the player is open to the idea of joining the Reds in the near future. Recently, his agent hinted about interest in his services from the Premier League giants. According to the report, the Reds will have to pay €50 million to land Hincapie at the club. A transfer involving such a fee will make him one of the most expensive defenders to play for the club.
With the 21-year-old’s contract at the Bundesliga club running until the summer of 2027, Leverkusen will be in full control when it comes to negotiations. Their priority will be to keep him at the club for a few more years. But an offer of around €50 million could be enough for Liverpool to secure his signatures.
