Barcelona will reportedly look to sell 20-year-old attacking prospect Ansu Fati in a permanent deal in the 2024 summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Ansu Fati might not have a way back at FC Barcelona. The youngster is on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion for the 2023/24 season. But the reigning La Liga champions want to part ways with the 20-year-old in a permanent deal in the 2024 summer transfer window.

Ansu Fati once seemed to be the next big thing at FC Barcelona, bursting onto the scene in style in 2019. The Spanish international became the second-youngest player to debut for Barcelona at the onset of the 2019/20 season. But fitness issues have plagued his career since then, stunting his progress considerably.

The 20-year-old was in and out of the starting lineup last season and began the ongoing campaign as a backup option. And his market value has plummeted to €35 million in the last few years. So, it was hardly surprising when Barcelona decided to offload Fati in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the youngster did not have a shortage of suitors vying for his signature.

Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Tottenham were among his suitors as the summer transfer window approached its final days. But Brighton & Hove Albion stole a march on the other big-name clubs pursuing Fati’s signature. And the Seagulls completed a deadline-day move for the young prospect.

Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Fati from Barcelona on a season-long loan deal for the 2023/24 campaign. But Roberto De Zerbi is easing the 20-year-old into the thick of the action. He has managed just over 250 minutes of game time thus far in his first month as a Brighton player.

While it is still early days for Fati at the Amex Stadium, De Zerbi and Brighton fans will hope he can rediscover his best form. Meanwhile, Barcelona will look to part ways with the Spanish international on a permanent deal next year.

The Catalan giants see no way back for the 20-year-old prospect at the club. So, a permanent exit is the best way forward for all parties. Premier League clubs remain interested in the youngster. So, it will be interesting to see where he plies his trade in the 2024/25 season.
