Barcelona are open to loaning out Ansu Fati this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur advancing the move to sign the 20-year-old.

According to Gerard Romero on Jijantes FC, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Barcelona star Ansu Fati, with the Catalans open to loaning out their young sensation. And a report by MARCA has suggested that talks between Tottenham and Barcelona have advanced for the 20-year-old homegrown player.

Ange Postecoglou could do with further additions to the Tottenham attack following the loss of Harry Kane. The England skipper’s departure leaves a huge void for goals, something that Richarlison will struggle to replicate.

The 20-year-old spent his early years at Herrera and Sevilla before moving to La Masia in 2012. He came through the ranks at Barcelona before making his senior debut in 2019 at the tender age of 16 years and 298 days. Since then, he has made 112 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 29 goals and assisting 10 more.

However, despite his promise, Fati has fallen down the pecking order in recent times and is far from a regular starter for Xavi Hernandez. A loan move could prove to be the best solution for all parties involved. The youngster can form a solid attacking triad alongside Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski.

Tottenham’s lack of cutting edge was apparent against Fulham in the Carabao Cup, and they will hope Fati can address the issue. Spurs have already contacted Barcelona, and they have reasons for optimism. The Blaugrana are open to a temporary exit and things could move fast if all parties are on the same page. And negotiations between the two clubs have advanced.

Tottenham are also interested in Brennan Johnson. But Nottingham Forest continue to hold out for £50 million. Landing Fati on the cheap rather than break the bank for Johnson makes more financial sense. More so, Spurs will also be getting the more dynamic player.

Chelsea are also linked with Fati and it could develop into a straight shootout between the London rivals. Fati certainly has what it takes to be a superstar, and a move to the Premier League could see him rekindle the flagging career of the 20-year-old Barcelona homegrown player.
