Juni Calafar will reportedly scout Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak when Newcastle United and PSG clash on Wednesday.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, the UEFA Champions League tie between Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain will have a special guest running the rule over a few players. Juni Calafat will be in attendance, with Real Madrid’s chief scout keeping an eye on Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak.

Bruno Guimaraes has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League since joining Newcastle United from Lyon in January 2022. The Brazilian international took no time to galvanise a struggling Newcastle team in the second half of the 2021/22 season before guiding them to a top-four finish last term.

On the other hand, Alexander Isak joined Newcastle United from Real Sociedad towards the end of the 2022 summer transfer window. While the Swede took some time to get going, he gradually grew in stature at St. James’ Park. Meanwhile, the 24-year-old has managed five goals in eight appearances thus far this season.

Isak’s progress at Newcastle United has not gone unnoticed, with recent reports linking him with Barcelona. But the Blaugrana might have to compete with Real Madrid in the race to sign the Swedish international. Meanwhile, Isak’s Newcastle United teammate Bruno Guimaraes is also a target for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid considered signing Bruno Guimaraes in the summer transfer window. But they remain interested in the Brazilian international despite failing to land him a few weeks ago. And Juni Calafat will be in attendance when Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain clash on Wednesday.

The two clubs will clash at St. James’ Park in the UEFA Champions League. And Calafat will run the rule over Bruno Guimaraes, Alexander Isak, and Kylian Mbappe in Wednesday’s fixture. The interest in the three players is understandable, with Mbappe being Real Madrid’s priority 2024 target.

But signing Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United will be a tall order, considering he will soon sign a new contract with the Magpies. It will be interesting to see if the scouting mission leads to concrete interest in the Newcastle United duo.
