Newcastle United have agreed on a new deal with their 25-year-old Brazilian midfield sensation Bruno Guimaraes.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United now have an agreement in place with Bruno Guimaraes over a new deal. The Magpies were keen on penning down a new deal with their 25-year-old midfielder and they have finally succeeded in doing so.
Guimaraes made a name for himself while playing for Olympique Lyon. His impressive performances for the French club attracted a lot of attention and quite a few top clubs wanted to sign him. But, Newcastle United managed to strike a deal for his services.
The 25-year-old was one of their marquee signings post the takeover. And, he has gone from strength to strength since joining them back in January 2022. The Brazil international has established himself as a key figure in Newcastle’s midfield.
Guimaraes played an integral role in helping them finish inside the top four in the Premier League last season and qualify for the Champions League after almost two decades.
While the 25-year-old still has close to three years left on his contract with the club, there was a lot of interest in his services. The Magpies didn’t want to lose out on the Brazilian sensation at any cost, as a result, they decided to extend his stay and end all speculations.
The focus was on rewarding him for his performances with improved terms and securing his future at the club. The Magpies have been involved in talks with the player’s representatives for a while now.
According to the report, both parties have finally reached a common ground and soon there will be an official announcement regarding the former Lyon midfielder’s new contract.
His new deal will run until the summer of 2028. And, according to Romano, there is a release clause worth around £100 million in his new contract. The new deal along with the huge release clause will ensure that the Magpies keep hold of their star player for years to come.
