Joselu is reportedly ready to pay his purchase clause to secure a permanent move to Real Madrid in the 2024 summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Joselu is pushing to join Real Madrid in a permanent deal in the 2024 summer transfer window. The in-form Spanish international is currently on loan at the Santiago Bernabeu. But he is ready to pay his purchase clause to seal his departure from Espanyol.

Joselu is a typical late bloomer, having struggled to perform consistently for much of his twenties. He passed through various clubs, including Premier League outfits Newcastle United and Stoke City. But the 33-year-old has finally found a stable foothold after returning to his homeland four years ago.

The Spanish international made his market with Deportivo Alaves before joining Espanyol last year. But the Catalan club’s relegation to the Segunda Division pushed the veteran striker to a summer exit. And Real Madrid snapped him up on a season-long loan deal during the recently-concluded transfer window.

Joselu’s move to Real Madrid has worked thus far, with the Spaniard managing three goals and one assist in eight outings. But the player is a backup option and will not receive regular starts, although that has no bearing on his contentment at the Santiago Bernabeu. And he wants to seal a permanent transfer to Real Madrid.

Recent reports have suggested that the Merengues are happy to complete a permanent deal next year. So, Joselu’s stance is good news for the Spanish outfit, who will aim to spend heavy sums on other signings in 2024. Kylian Mbappe, in particular, is a top target for Real Madrid for next summer’s window.

While the Frenchman will likely arrive in a Bosman move, Real Madrid will have to pay a signing-on fee. So, Joselu’s desire to complete a low-money move bodes well for Los Blancos. And the report claims that the in-form Spanish international is ready to pay his purchase clause to complete the move.

While the value of the clause is a mere €1.5 million, Joselu wants to help Real Madrid. So, his decision to pay the money out of his pocket should help seal a permanent deal for the 33-year-old next summer.
