Arsenal and Chelsea are both ready to offer a player plus cash deal to Brentford for the services of Ivan Toney.
According to a report by 90min, Arsenal and Chelsea are keen on having Ivan Toney in their ranks. The 27-year-old Brentford striker is expected to be on the move in the winter transfer window and both the English giants are ready to push for his services.
Toney joined the Bees in the summer of 2020. He has gone from strength to strength since joining the club and has featured in a total of 124 matches. The England international has contributed towards 89 goals.
As far as last season is concerned, Toney was the third-highest goal scorer in the league with 20 strikes to his name. The 27-year-old finished with a total of 26 goal contributions in his 35 outings.
The Bees striker was expected to be the biggest talking point of the summer transfer window. But, he ended up getting banned for eight months due to breaches of betting rules. Despite being banned there still remains a lot of interest in his services.
The England international will be back available in January. But, he is unlikely to continue at Brentford and there will be a bidding war for his services. He is on the radar of both Chelsea and Arsenal. And, the English clubs are expected to go all out for the 27-year-old goal scorer.
Chelsea don’t have a Premier League proven striker in their ranks and they have struggled for goals of late. As a result, they will push hard for the services of Toney. Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta is in search of a proper number nine, he wants to sign someone who is physical and good in the air.
The Gunners believe Toney could be a great fit for the club and they are ready to go hard for his services. Brentford’s head coach Thomas Frank has recently said that they are ready to negotiate his departure for the right price.
While recent reports suggest that the Bees could sell Toney for £60 million, they haven’t decided on any fixed fee for the England international in reality. But, according to the report, they can ask for more than £75 million. As a result, both Arsenal and Chelsea are ready to offer a player in return.
Both clubs want Brentford to lower their asking price and they are ready to offer a part-exchange deal to lower his price. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if Brentford are open to the idea of accepting a player plus cash deal for their star forward.
