Liverpool will closely monitor the progress of Jarrod Bowen from here on, as the West Ham United star is considered a replacement for Mohamed Salah.
According to Dean Jones on Give Me Sport, Jarrod Bowen remains a firm option on Liverpool’s list as a Mohamed Salah replacement. The Reds will closely monitor the £60,000-a-week English international for the remainder of the season with a view to making a move next summer.
The future of Mohamed Salah will spring up a big transfer question in the January or summer window for Liverpool. The Egyptian star became the subject of a mammoth bid from Al-Ittihad, which the Reds rejected out of hand owing to the timing of the offer.
However, there is a firm belief the Saudis will return with another chase in January. Liverpool might consider a massive offer next summer, as they will have continuity and plenty of time to choose Salah’s heir.
For now, Liverpool have listed several high-profile names to replace Salah in the event the Egyptian ends up leaving. Juventus star Federico Chiesa is a name admired by Jurgen Klopp, while Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes and West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen, among others.
Liverpool feel Bowen could replace Salah and bring loads of experience playing similarly to the Egyptian in the Premier League. West Ham are reportedly looking to extend his £60,000-a-week contract, and they might succeed in their quest, as Dean Jones reckons the English international could eventually get his opportunity to sign for a big club.
Jones said, “I think it makes sense that Bowen signs a new contract at West Ham. I don’t think it would come as a surprise to Liverpool if he does that. There’s going to come a time when Bowen will have options to leave West Ham, and I think you’ll consider it as well.”
“It’s not that he will want to leave, but he’ll see, for example, what’s happened to Declan Rice and the rise in profile that he’s just had since leaving West Ham. You can just see the aura around Rice since leaving that he felt ready for something a bit bigger. And while West Ham is a big club, it’s not as big as an Arsenal or a Liverpool or a Man United. And at some point, Bowen is going to have that opportunity.”
“I think that Liverpool will continue monitoring Bowen, as they’ve admired him for quite a while and knowing that the Salah exit probably isn’t too far away, now they should still be looking at it.”
Liverpool have admired Bowen for a long time and even considered a move in the past. However, his huge asking price would have proved difficult to conjure up. But amid concerns surrounding Salah’s future, the Merseysiders may have plenty to spend on the £60,000-a-week English international.
