Marc Cucurella was linked with a move away from Chelsea last month, with Manchester United showing interest in him.

Marc Cucurella was a target for Manchester United during the summer transfer window, but the transfer did not materialise. A report from Evening Standard has claimed that the Spanish outcast now faces exile at Stamford Bridge after Chelsea failed to offload him.

Cucurella has not been able to live up to the expectations since his £62 million move the Stamford Bridge from Brighton and Hove Albion. The 25-year-old was expected to be a key player for the Blues, but the move has clearly not worked out.

Chelsea tried to offload him during the summer transfer window, but they have failed to do so. The report from Evening Standard claims that the player could now be frozen out of the Chelsea side. The Spanish defender needs to play regularly in order to regain his sharpness, and he will hope that Mauricio Pochettino can give him the opportunities he needs.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will have opportunities to offload him during the January transfer window once again. The West London club will probably hope to sell him permanently and cut their losses on the player.

They are unlikely to be able to recoup £62 million for him, but they should look to cash in on him before his value plummets further. The 25-year-old has previously proven to be a capable defender in the Premier League with Brighton, and he will be hoping to get his career back on track once again.

Moving away from Chelsea would be ideal for all parties, and it remains to be seen where he ends up. Manchester United wanted to sign him after injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. They ended up signing the Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon on loan instead.

It remains to be seen whether any other Premier League side is keen on signing the 25-year-old during the January transfer window. Chelsea will hope to find a permanent suitor for him as the 25-year-old will also look to end his Stamford Bridge nightmare. The Spanish defender is young enough to get his career back on track in the coming seasons and fulfil his potential.
