Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United have established contact with Chelsea for their 25-year-old full-back Marc Cucurella.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are keen on adding a new left-back to their ranks before the end of the transfer window. And, the Red Devils have their eyes on Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella.

The 25-year-old left-sided full-back is yet to feature in any of the matches for the Blues this season. He is not the priority under Mauricio Pochettino and could consider a move elsewhere if Chelsea cannot promise him enough game time.

Cucurella joined them in a deal worth £62 million last summer from Brighton & Hove Albion . In his first season with the West London club, the 25-year-old racked up a total of 33 matches and was on the pitch for over 2,100 minutes. The Spanish international was used in multiple positions and did a decent job.

Pochettino’s arrival has changed things, and he might not get similar game time. But, he still has a contract that runs until the summer of 2028, and Chelsea might let him leave the club as they do not need a reliable cover for Ben Chilwell, with Ian Maatsen already in the squad.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are interested in the 25-year-old’s services. They are looking to add a new left-back as soon as possible after losing Luke Shaw to a long-term injury. And, Cucurella is one of the three names on their list.

The Red Devils have already established contacts with Chelsea. They have enquired about the conditions of a potential loan deal. These are just initial talks, and nothing concrete has developed as of now.

While Erik ten Hag is desperate for a new full-back, Manchester United’s budget won’t allow them to go big. They have already spent millions on new signings and are still in the race for Sofyan Amrabat’s signature. As a result, they are looking for a cost-effective option at left-back.

Cucurella might not have featured in any of the matches so far. But, there are no talks of his pushing for a move or the club considering offloading him. While Manchester United are keen on having him, they might not be able to strike a loan deal with Chelsea at this stage. They have might have to look at the other two options on their list of targets.
