Real Madrid could plot a €50 million deal to sign Reece James in 2025, allowing them time to navigate their existing options.

According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid retain an interest in Reece James and could plot a future move in 2025 for the Chelsea homegrown product. The English right-back has been seen as an ideal successor to Dani Carvajal, but the Spanish giants are ready to bide their time to sign him.

The Reece James to Real Madrid rumours refuse to die despite the Chelsea homegrown product signing a new long-term deal with the club last season. The new contract will likely keep the right back until 2029, which allows the Blues to command a significant fee if any suitor comes in with an approach.

Real Madrid retain an interest in the Chelsea star and will continue to keep tabs on his developments during the current season. The Chelsea homegrown product has had a torrid for the last 18 months or so with injuries and remains out with a familiar hamstring problem.

Real Madrid will hope he recovers and starts putting in consistent performances as they eye a 2025 move. The report states Real Madrid might look to pay €50 million for the Chelsea homegrown star, with that pricetag also mentioned at the end of last season.

The Spanish giants may have pondered a move this summer, but again, they may have wanted to want and see through his injury problems. Chelsea, under Todd Boehly, have remained open to doing business for their important players, as he showcased during the last few months with the sale of Kai Havertz and Mason Mount.

The new owner is also open to refreshing his squad rapidly, as seen with their outlay on new young players this summer. As for Real Madrid, they had previously thought of the idea of a 2025 move, which makes sense for their succession plan.

Dani Carvajal continues to play an influential role in the position. But by 2025, the Spaniard will turn 33. Real Madrid must refresh that position and have earmarked James to fulfil that role. They will also hope the resounding success of England teammate Jude Bellingham will tempt the Chelsea homegrown product to join them.

In truth, rarely does any player tend to reject the overtures of Real Madrid, and that might apply to James, too. Any move to the Bernabeu will depend on the right-back maintaining his fitness levels, as Real Madrid may not sign him if his injury issues persist.
