Fenerbahce are reportedly interested in signing 31-year-old Arsenal midfielder Jorginho before the Turkish window closes.

According to Arda Birben, Fenerbahce are interested in signing Jorginho before the transfer window closes in Turkey. Although the summer transfer window has shut down in England, Turkish clubs can still sell and sign players until later this month.

The 31-year-old Arsenal midfielder could prove to be a quality acquisition for them. Jorginho has proven his quality in the Premier League with Chelsea, and he has done reasonably well since moving to Arsenal as well.

He will add control and composure to the Fenerbahce midfield if he joins the Turkish outfit in the coming days. So it is hardly surprising that the Turkish giants have been keen on signing the former Chelsea midfielder this summer.

Arsenal signed Declan Rice this past summer. So Jorginho might not get regular game time with the Gunners in the coming months. It will be interesting to see if the Italian international is willing to move on and try out a different experience at this stage of his career.

A move to Turkey would allow him to play regularly, and Arsenal will be able to recoup some money for him as well. However, selling him at this stage would leave Arsenal with a weakened squad, especially with Thomas Partey sidelines. They will not be able to bring in the necessary replacements. Reports in the last few weeks suggested Arsenal were not expecting to part ways with him.

The Gunners will be competing in the UEFA Champions League this season, and they will hope to go all the way in the Premier League title race as well. The Gunners cannot afford to have a lack of depth and quality in their squad when they are up against a quality opposition like Manchester City.

The lack of depth derailed their title race in the Premier League last season. So Arsenal will not want to be in that situation once again. Jorginho has the experience and quality to compete at the highest level and he has won major trophies with Chelsea. The experienced midfielder could prove to be a useful option for Arsenal later this season.

Even though he might not be a regular starter, he could still be a valuable member of the first team, and his presence will allow Mikel Arteta to rotate his midfield options more often. The Gunners should look to hold on to him at least until the January transfer window when they will be able to sign a replacement.

Not worth selling him for peanuts, seeing as the money would not be reinvested in another player. Just extra money in the owners pocket! No benefit to Arsenal what so ever in selling him.
