Joao Felix is reportedly on the cusp of completing his “dream move” to Barcelona, with Atletico Madrid agreeing to a loan deal.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Joao Felix is on the verge of joining FC Barcelona. The Blaugrana and Atletico Madrid have sealed an agreement over a loan deal for the rest of the 2023/24 season. But Barcelona will not have a clause to sign the 23-year-old in a permanent deal next summer.

Barcelona might have left it too late to complete the first-team squad. But they are on the verge of sealing two deals that will raise the quality levels considerably. One of them will see Joao Cancelo arriving on loan from Manchester City. And the other pertains to Joao Felix, who has been waiting to complete his “dream move” for a long time.

Recent reports also suggested that the 23-year-old was ready to lower his wages to join Barcelona. So, all that remained was for the Blaugrana to seal an agreement with Atletico Madrid over a loan deal. But Chelsea’s recent entry into the picture complicated matters for Barcelona and Felix.

Reports also linked Liverpool with the Portuguese international. But speculation connecting Felix with Premier League clubs has seemingly been a smokescreen. And the struggling forward is now on the cusp of completing a loan move to the Catalan club, who will not have a purchase option in the agreement.

Felix has been with Atletico Madrid for four years, arriving in a mega-money deal from Benfica after the Rojiblancos triggered his release clause. But the transfer has not worked out for either party, with Diego Simeone’s tactics not suiting the player.

Things have gone from bad to worse for Felix and Atletico Madrid in the last 12 months. And he has not featured in a single game thus far this season. So the 23-year-old desperately needed the links with Barcelona to work out for him. And his “dream move” will soon turn into reality.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have a verbal agreement over a loan deal. So, all that now remains for the transfer to go through is the official announcement from both clubs.
