Manchester United have finally succeeded in acquiring the services of 27-year-old Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Manchester United have confirmed the acquisition of Sofyan Amrabat via an official announcement by the club. The Red Devils have finally managed to secure the services of the 27-year-old, who has been a priority target for the club over the past few months.

The Red Devils entered the summer market looking to bolster their squad as they prepared to return to the UEFA Champions League. They managed to sign Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund quickly. The arrival of the trio did strengthen their squad to a great extent. But, there was a lot of business still to be done heading into the deadline day.

The Red Devils were looking to add a backup goalkeeper, a left-back and a defensive midfielder before the end of the window. Earlier in the day they signed Altay Bayindir and followed it up with the acquisition of Sergio Reguilon.

Post that, their focus was on securing the services of Sofyan Amrabat, who has been on their radar ever since the start of the transfer window. The Red Devils had reached an agreement on personal terms with the player quite a few weeks back.

But, Manchester United could not place an official offer for his services as they had spent the majority of their budget on three marquee signings earlier in the window. As a result, Erik ten Hag’s team were looking to offload players who were surplus to requirements.

But, they failed in doing so. While they did sell a few of them, those funds were not sufficient to land Amrabat at the club. The Red Devils then decided to restart talks with Fiorentina over a season-long loan deal with an option to buy. After hours of negotiations between both parties, an agreement was reached. And Amrabat has expressed his delight at completing the move.

He said, “It is a huge honour to become a Manchester United player. I’ve had to be patient for this moment but I’m someone who always listens to my heart and now I am representing the club of my dreams. I am a passionate player; I want to bring that energy to the squad, and I will put everything into every action I take for the team.”

“I know exactly how Erik ten Hag likes to work and what he needs from his players. His coaching and guidance developed me so much as a player earlier in my career; I know that he will help to bring out the best of my abilities so that I can help the group to be successful this season.”

Fiorentina have accepted Manchester United’s offer that has a €10 million loan fee with an option to buy worth €20 million in base fee and another €5 million in add-ons. The 27-year-old had offers from across the world but he waited for Manchester United and they have finally managed to land him at the club with hours remaining in the transfer window.
