Manchester United have managed to acquire the services of the 25-year-old Fenerbahce shot-stopper Altay Bayindir.

Manchester United have made an official statement to confirm that they have successfully completed the acquisition of Altay Bayindir. The 25-year-old Fenerbahce shot-stopper has been on the radar of the Red Devils for a while now and they have finally managed to secure his services.

Ever since the start of the transfer window, the Manchester-based club have been busy sorting out their goalkeeping position and finally, it seems they have a settled base for the 2023-24 season. Initially, they wanted to renew the contract of David de Gea, but those talks collapsed. And after his contract ran out, he ended up parting ways with the club.

Post that, Erik ten Hag was desperate for a new number one, and he wanted to sign Andre Onana. The Red Devils fulfilled the desire of their manager and ended up singing Cameroonian shot-stopper in a big-money move. The arrival of Onana meant Dean Henderson was unlikely to get much game time in the 2023/24 season.

The England international was a part of the Manchester United setup since his childhood days. He had come up the ranks at the club and made it to their first team a few years back. But, unfortunately, he never got enough opportunities to make his mark.

Onana’s arrival meant the 26-year-old would not have been able to become the first-choice goalkeeper for Manchester united. As a result, he decided to part ways with the Red Devils. Henderson ended up joining Crystal Palace on a permanent transfer.

Manchester United were well aware of the fact that the England international wanted to part ways with the club. So they were on the lookout for a new backup goalkeeper. The Red Devils shortlisted Altay Bayindir as a potential target, and they started talks with Fenerbahce.

After a few rounds of talks, both the clubs reached an agreement. The player was keen on joining the Red Devils, and the final formalities were successfully completed earlier. Manchester United have now officially announced the signing of the 25-year-old Turkish international. And he has expressed his delight after completing the move.

Bayindir said, “It is a huge honour to join Manchester United and become the first Turkish player to represent this incredible club. I have a passion for success, and I will give everything to help this special group of players to achieve our ambitions.”

“I cannot wait to start working with such an experienced goalkeeping unit. We will support each other and drive high standards every day so that each of us is ready to perform whenever called upon.”

Bayindir has penned a four-year contract with Manchester United, and there is an option to extend it by another 12 months. He has been in exceptional form over the past 12 months and will surely be a great addition to their ranks. While he has been signed as a backup, the 25-year-old could challenge Onana for a spot in the starting XI.
