Chelsea are reportedly in talks with Corinthians for 17-year-old Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Moscardo.

According to 90min, Premier League giants Chelsea are in talks with Brazilian behemoths Corinthians for their talented midfield prodigy Gabriel Moscardo.

The 17-year-old came through the Corinthians setup, making his senior bow for the club earlier this year. He has since won ten caps for the Brazilian club and is a player whose reputation is on the rise.

Moscardo is a complete midfielder who excels in the defensive role. A solid tackler, he is also adept at winning the ball back, helping his side remain in possession. The young Brazilian is also an able dribbler, able to pick and place passes to progress the ball to forward areas.

His discipline remains poor, however, having picked up four yellow cards in ten competitive games at club level so far. As long as he can control his emotions, there is no reason why he cannot develop into a dominant presence in the middle of the park for both club and country.

Chelsea added former Corinthians scout Alysson Marins to their roster this summer and the appointment is paying off. The South American market has been thoroughly explored this summer with Andre Santos, Angelo and Deivid Washington all arriving at Stamford Bridge. An agreement was also found for Ecuadorian wonderkid Kendry Paez, who will arrive in 2025.

Moscardo would round off a brilliant addition to their youth ranks, perhaps securing the club’s future for years to come. After all, even if a handful of these players make it big, the club’s investment is worth the risk.

Moscardo is still in his formative years and has several kinks to iron out in his armour. While his potential is clear, it is imperative that the Blues incorporate him into the setup and teach him to control his aggression.

It promises to be a busy deadline day at Stamford Bridge with several stars coming and going. Should the deal for Moscardo be agreed on, Chelsea could look back to their foresight in the future and pat themselves for beating the competition to his signature.
