Brennan Johnson is reportedly on the cusp of leaving Nottingham Forest to join Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth £40 million.

According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Brennan Johnson should become a Tottenham Hotspur player today. The versatile Welsh attacker will leave Nottingham Forest to join fellow Premier League club Tottenham. And the deal will likely set the North London outfit back by £40 million.

Brennan Johnson has been with Nottingham Forest since he was eight years old. A graduate of the Midlands club’s youth division, the Welshman made his first-team debut as an 18-year-old in August 2018. And he has come leaps and bounds since then, establishing himself as a pivotal figure for the Tricky Trees.

The 22-year-old has turned out over 100 times thus far for Nottingham Forest, chipping in with 29 goals and 12 assists. Johnson’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with several high-profile clubs closely monitoring him in the last few years. And Tottenham will look to secure his services before the summer transfer window shuts down.

The young attacker has been on Tottenham’s radar for a long time. The North London club even considered prising him away from City Ground in a part-exchange deal. But Nottingham Forest had been adamant that the versatile attacker would only leave for a cash deal, as it would help them balance the books.

Tottenham and Nottingham Forest have been discussing a deal for the 22-year-old. And his ability to play across the frontline makes him an attractive prospect for the North London club, considering they have not replaced Harry Kane with a recognised striker this summer.

It now seems Johnson is on the verge of joining Tottenham from Nottingham Forest. The North London giants will likely pay around £40 million to their fellow Premier League outfit. And the two clubs are now finalising the minor details before sealing the agreement over a permanent transfer.

Johnson has been eager to join Tottenham for several weeks, even rebuffing interest from West London club Chelsea. And at £40 million, the versatile 22-year-old attacker will be a value-for-money addition at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline.
