Real Madrid will have to fend off stiff competition from Manchester City to sign Kylian Mbappe next year.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Kylian Mbappe is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Premier League champions want to sign the French international in the 2024 summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Paris Saint-Germain talisman is the top target for Real Madrid.
Kylian Mbappe has been one of the best players in the world since breaking out at AS Monaco over half a dozen years ago. And the Frenchman arguably has no competition from his peers right now, having become a talismanic figure for his club and country.
Mired in controversy this summer, the 24-year-old became ‘persona non grata’ for Paris Saint-Germain after revealing he would not sign a new contract with them. But after some negotiations with Les Parisiens, who wanted to sell him this summer, he is back in action for PSG. And Mbappe’s season has started well, as he has scored thrice in two games thus far.
While the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has still not signed a new contract with PSG yet, he might forego his hefty loyalty bonus. So Mbappe’s next move might still come on a free transfer in the 2024 summer transfer window. And Manchester City will compete with Real Madrid in the race to sign him.
The French international has been on Real Madrid’s radar since his breakthrough campaign with AS Monaco. And the Merengues have made multiple attempts to secure Mbappe’s services in the last few years. But a move has never materialised. Nonetheless, Real Madrid will look to sign him in the 2024 summer transfer window.
On the other hand, Manchester City will look to beat Real Madrid to Mbappe’s signature. And while the Premier League champions have a stacked offensive unit, the 24-year-old can make them untouchable. And alongside Erling Haaland, the PSG talisman might score goals for fun.
Apart from Real Madrid and Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United are also monitoring Mbappe’s situation. And it will be interesting to see if the Merengues can beat the competition to their top target in 2024.
I honestly don’t see Haaland and Mbappe playing in the same team soon. If Mbappe goes to City Haaland will move on. That is just my opinion.
