AS Roma are keen on having 30-year-old Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku in their ranks before the end of the transfer window.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, AS Roma are looking to acquire the services of Romelu Lukaku. The 30-year-old Chelsea forward has no intentions of continuing at the London club and even the Blues are looking to get him off their books.

Lukaku has been looking for a new club throughout the ongoing transfer window. While multiple clubs have shown interest, none have managed to strike a deal with the Blues for different reasons.

The 30-year-old was on loan at Inter Milan last season. While he was not the first-choice striker, Lukaku still managed to contribute towards 21 goals in under 2000 minutes of football. He was involved in 37 matches and ended up finding the back of the net on 14 occasions.

On the back of his impressive performance while on loan, Inter decided to sign him permanently but they learned about his negotiations with rivals Juventus and decided to drop the idea.

Post that Juventus have been in talks with Chelsea over a potential deal. While the Italian giants are interested in his services, they are looking to first offload a few players. Of late the talks have stalled and a move to the Old Lady looks unlikely.

With the Lukaku situation going nowhere, the Blues even considered convincing him for a move to Saudi Arabia. But, he has already rejected a move to the Middle East in the recent past as he wants to continue in Europe.

Finally, José Mourinho has come to the rescue of Chelsea as well as the Belgian international. The Portuguese manager wants to sign the 30-year-old for Roma. Mourinho has gotten the best out of quite a few strikers over the years and he believes, Lukaku could help them to a great extent.

He will add a lot of goals and physicality to their attack. The Belgian will make them a lot more threatening going forward. As a result, the Italian club have reached out to Chelsea and they have started discussing about the former Manchester United striker.

While Roma are keen on having him in their ranks, they have no intentions of buying him on a permanent basis. They are looking to bring him in on a season-long loan.
