Chelsea are ready to sell their 30-year-old Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku to a Saudi Pro League club before the transfer window ends.

According to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea are keen on getting Romelu Lukaku off their books before the end of the transfer window. The 30-year-old striker has no future at the London club and they are trying to reach an agreement with a European club. But, if they fail, the Blues will look to convince the Belgian forward to join a Saudi Arabian club.

The Lukaku saga has been going on since the very start of the transfer window. The Belgian international re-joined Chelsea back in the summer of 2021 from Inter Milan in a big-money move. But, his transfer didn’t go according to plan as he failed to fire.

Just a year after joining the Blues, he was sent back to Inter on a season-long loan. The 30-year-old managed to put in decent performances while on loan at the Italian club as he scored 14 goals and also bagged seven assists in his 37 outings.

His performances resulted in Inter Milan pushing for his services. They wanted to sign him on a permanent basis but the move collapsed when they learned about the fact that he was also negotiating with their rivals Juventus.

At one point in time, it looked like a move to the Old Lady was almost complete. But, things have reached a standstill and no serious development has taken place over the past few weeks.

While Chelsea are ready to sell and even the player is keen on leaving, they haven’t been able to strike a deal with any club. Meanwhile, there is interest from a few Premier League clubs and they are trying to land him at the club. But, the Blues’ asking price and Lukaku’s lofty wages are a major hurdle.

The negotiations are still on as the Blues look to find a way out. However, if they fail to reach an agreement with any European club, Chelsea will look to convince the 30-year-old to join a Saudi Pro League club.

There has been strong interest in the Belgian international in the recent past from the Middle East but he is keen on continuing in Europe. However, if there are no takers in Europe, Lukaku might end up moving to Saudi Arabia.
