West Ham United have reportedly joined the race to sign 18-year-old Colombian midfield sensation Jhon Solis from Atletico Nacional.

According to a report by Colombian outlet Caracol, Jhon Solis is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The 18-year-old is a popular figure in the market in the ongoing transfer window. And Brighton & Hove Albion are also keen on signing the Atletico Nacional midfield sensation.

Jhon Solis is one of the best young prospects in his homeland, coming leaps and bounds in his formative years thus far. The Colombian wonderkid began his youth career at Racing de Guacarí before joining Atletico Nacional. And he earned a promotion to the first-team squad in 2021, aged just 16.

The 18-year-old has gone from strength to strength since then, becoming a regular for the Atletico Nacional first team despite still being in his teens. And he has turned out 31 times in all competitions thus far this term, chipping in with four assists. Solis’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, alerting several clubs in Europe.

Widespread reports have linked the teenage wonderkid with several European outfits. And the latest update by Caracol reveals that he is a target for West Ham United. Meanwhile, the Hammers have Brighton & Hove Albion for company in the race to sign the player.

Solis might not become a regular for West Ham straightaway, considering they have signed Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse this summer. In addition, David Moyes also has Tomas Soucek in his squad. But amid uncertainties surrounding former Manchester City target Lucas Paqueta due to an ongoing betting scandal, West Ham can do with a midfielder.

Jhon Solis has thus emerged as a viable target, and he can beef up the West Ham squad. And with the Hammers competing in the UEFA Europa League this season, he will get ample opportunities if he joins. Meanwhile, they are also keen on signing a striker this summer, with Georges Mikautadze popping up on their radar.

As for the interest in Solis, it will be interesting to see if West Ham can beat the competition to land the 18-year-old Colombian midfield sensation in the ongoing transfer window.
