West Ham United enter chase for Georges Mikautadze

David Moyes’s West Ham United are keen on acquiring the services of the 22-year-old FC Metz forward Georges Mikautadze.

According to a report by Le10Sport, West Ham United have entered the race to sign Georges Mikautadze. The 22-year-old forward has made quite a name for himself thanks to impressive performances last season, and there are numerous clubs interested in him.

Georges Mikautadze has been a part of the FC Mertz youth setup since the summer of 2017. He has gone up the ranks and had been out on loan on multiple occasions to gain first-team experience.

After an impressive loan spell at RFC Seraing during the 2021/22 season, he became an important part of their first team. He racked up a total of 40 appearances last season and contributed towards 33 goals.

The 22-year-old forward was on the pitch for over 3,300 minutes and ended up scoring a total of 24 goals. He even bagged a total of nine assists. Thanks to the Georgian international’s impressive performances, there is no shortage of interest in his services. A couple of his suitors have already submitted bids to FC Metz to land him. However, those offers have been rejected by the French club, who are looking for €20 million. Sheffield United made a proposal worth €18 million, while Lazio lodged an offer worth €15 million.

While the twl clubs still remain interested in his services, it will be interesting to see if either of them put forward another bid. Meanwhile, West Ham United have entered the race for the Georgia international.

The Hammers were not at their best last season. While they did win the UEFA Europa Conference League, they narrowly escaped relegation. And, their attack was a concern throughout. While the focus is on reinforcing the midfield, they are also looking for a new forward and have their eyes set on Georges Mikautadze.

The East London club are yet to put forward a bid, but they have surely entered the race for his services. Given his numbers from last season, he will surely be a great addition to the Hammers’ ranks. As a result, it will be interesting to see if and when they put forward a bid. Meanwhile, they have also shown interest in several other strikers, including Brennan Johnson.
