Barcelona will be open to negotiating a loan deal with Tottenham for out-of-favour 28-year-old defender Clement Lenglet this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Clement Lenglet continues to have his Barcelona future mired in uncertainty in the ongoing transfer window. The agreement with Tottenham is not close. But the reigning La Liga champions are ready to negotiate a loan deal for the out-of-favour 28-year-old defender.

Clement Lenglet has seen his career come to a grinding halt in the wake of his loan stint with Tottenham Hotspur. The French international is yet to find his next destination, with talks between Barcelona and Tottenham stalling. Meanwhile, the Catalan giants do not want to keep him at the club beyond the ongoing transfer window.

The 28-year-old turned out 35 times for Tottenham Hotspur last season, chipping in with one goal and two assists. But that has not convinced the North London club to go all out to secure Lenglet’s services. That is due to a difference in valuations between Barcelona and the Premier League outfit.

Meanwhile, the Frenchman has an agreement in principle with Tottenham over personal terms. But with talks between Barcelona and the North London club not going anywhere, other avenues have opened up recently. And reports in the last few days have linked the out-of-favour defender with Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr.

But the 28-year-old reportedly has his heart set on joining Tottenham, thus complicating matters for Barcelona. Meanwhile, he will likely be a backup option for the Premier League outfit after the arrival of Micky van de Ven from VfL Wolfsburg. Nonetheless, he wants to return to London before the summer transfer window closes.

The latest update will come as a boost for Spurs, with the report claiming Barcelona will be open to a loan deal. The report claims that the reigning La Liga champions are ready to open negotiations over a temporary move for Lenglet.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham will respond favourably to Barcelona’s new stance over Lenglet’s future. But a loan agreement for the out-of-favour 28-year-old between the two clubs might be on the cards.
