Tottenham Hotspur and 28-year-old Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet reportedly have an agreement in principle over a three-year contract.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Clement Lenglet is closing in on joining Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window. The 28-year-old Barcelona defender has an agreement in principle with the North London outfit over a three-year contract. Now all that remains is for the two clubs to finalise the transfer fee.

Clement Lenglet has seen his stock plummet after the initial high of being a regular for Barcelona. The Frenchman saw his performance levels dropping in the last few seasons before becoming a bit-part player for the Blaugrana. And he temporarily left Barcelona to join Tottenham Hotspur on loan for the 2022/23 season.

The 28-year-old was a regular for Tottenham this past season after Antonio Conte initially eased him into the thick of the action. He made 35 appearances across all competitions while chipping in with one goal and two assists. But Lenglet’s future is uncertain after he returned to Barcelona after the expiration of his loan deal.

The French international is ready to rejoin Tottenham in a permanent deal. While the North London club considered ending interest in a permanent move earlier this year, they are on the negotiating table with Barcelona. And they already have an agreement in principle with Lenglet’s representatives.

The 28-year-old will sign a three-year contract if he joins Tottenham this summer. And he will earn a similar sum to his original wages with Barcelona, making it an attractive proposition for him. Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that talks between Tottenham and Barcelona have been progressing well.

A cut-price transfer fee will be on the cards if the two clubs look to finalise the deal. And the most recent reports have suggested the Catalan giants want €10 million in exchange for Lenglet’s services. But it is unclear if Tottenham will be open to matching Barcelona’s valuation for the player.

All that remains for the deal to go through is an agreement between Barcelona and Tottenham. As for Lenglet, the 28-year-old is ready to sign a three-year contract to join the North London club permanently this summer.

I sincerely hope this is a mistake!!! We have just bought a new keeper that everyone has high hopes for. It’s unfair to unleash this so called ‘defender’ on him!

Please Barca.. find some OTHER mug to sell him off to!
