Chelsea are pushing hard to acquire the services of the 20-year-old Lyon winger Bradley Barcola.
According to Fabrice Hawkins, Chelsea are keen on adding a new right winger to their squad before the end of the transfer window. They were chasing the signatures of Michael Olise but unfortunately, that deal has broken down and they have shifted their focus towards Bradley Barcola.
The 20-year-old Lyon star has gone from strength to strength over the past 12 months, and he is a huge prospect for the future. Barcola seems to be a great fit for Chelsea’s project which revolves around young players with huge potential. As a result, the Blues are looking to land him at the club.`
Their priority was to sign Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise. Reports suggested that they had triggered his release clause worth £35 million and were closing in on his signatures. Final details were yet to be discussed but a deal was on the cards. But, in the end, the player has decided to commit his future to the Eagles by penning down a new deal.
Olise has decided against joining the Blues. As a result, they have been forced to look elsewhere and they have now decided to go all out after Barcola. The 20-year-old has been a part of the Lyon setup since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at the club and has been a part of their first team since the winter of 2022.
Since being promoted to their first team, he has been involved in a total of 45 matches and has contributed towards 19 goals. Out of his 19 goal contributions, 17 came last season as he featured in a total of 35 matches and was on the pitch for over 2,100 minutes.
His impressive performances have attracted a lot of attention. Even Paris Saint-Germain are interested in his services. But, at this point in time, the Blues are looking to intensify their efforts to land him at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are in talks with the French club over a potential deal. Meanwhile, Lyon are ready to negotiate his departure. But they have recently rejected an offer worth €35 million along with add-ons. Barcola is well placed in the Blues’ target list and they are expected to make big moves in the coming days.
