Manchester City are keeping a close eye on RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Premier League champions Manchester City are keeping close tabs on RB Leipzig’s Spanish star Dani Olmo as we enter the final two weeks of the summer transfer window. The midfielder is reportedly valued at €80-100 million.
The former La Masia starlet is one of the best players in the Bundesliga and has proven himself to be a consistent performer of late. He caught the eye earlier this season as Leipzig stunned Bayern Munich 3-0 in the DFL Supercup. Olmo scored a hat-trick on the night, raining on superstar Harry Kane’s Die Roten debut.
An attacking midfielder who can also play out wide on either flank, Olmo is a versatile attacker who would fit right into Pep Guardiola’s system. The Catalan tactician is a fan of the 25-year-old and will be familiar with him having spent time as Barcelona’s boss during Olmo’s time in the youth ranks.

A solid dribbler who is lethal in front of goal, Olmo is capable of creating goals as easily as he can score them. His eye for a pass is especially effective and helps open up deep defensive lines. This is key given that Manchester City will be without star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne for the next few months.
The Cityzens are interested in signing Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United. But Olmo is a different kind of player and will in all likelihood be the orchestrator of the attack that will aim to feed the ball to Erling Haaland.
However, Leipzig are in no mood to entertain offers for their star man and could ask for a king’s ransom to part ways with his services. Given that they held firm on their asking price for Josko Gvardiol, Manchester City will no doubt have to pay a premium.
Manchester City cannot afford to not reinforce their midfield given that teams around them have strengthened. However, with time now running out a lot will depend on just how big they go for Olmo and whether Leipzig are willing to play ball.
