Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are unlikely to acquire the services of 20-year-old Barcelona star winger Ansu Fati this summer.
According to Ryan Taylor via GIVEMESPORT, Arsenal are keen on having Ansu Fati in their ranks before the end of the transfer window. Mikel Arteta is looking for more firepower in his attack, and the Gunners remain in the market for a new forward.
Arteta’s team have already bolstered their squad by signing some high-quality players in Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber. They were done and dusted with the majority of their transfer business very early on in the window. But, recent reports suggest there is still some work to be done.
The Gunners are still looking for a winger and want to sign someone who can provide cover for their starters, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. The Gunners are eager to land someone who could be a perfect fit into Arteta’s system, and Barcelona star Ansu Fati is a name on their list.
Arsenal have been interested in the winger for a while now and are considering making a move for him in the near future. Meanwhile, the player has been linked with a move away from the Spanish giants throughout the summer.
Ryan Taylor said, “Fati is one that would fit Arsenal stylistically, but I think Barcelona would be looking for a massive fee for him really. I just can’t see Arsenal paying big money for another forward, and I think if they’re going to sign anyone else it would probably be a sort of £40 million purchase. Is Fati available for £40 million? He might be but I can’t really see that one, unfortunately.”
The 20-year-old has struggled with injuries of late, and he has not had much game time. Xavi has preferred other wingers over the Spanish international, something that has not gone down well with Fati and his representatives. While his first priority is to continue at the club, the Barcelona academy graduate could still be open to a move.
Arsenal might be ready to push for his services, but they have a major roadblock ahead. The Catalan giants won’t let Fati leave on the cheap. They will demand a sizeable fee for the 20-year-old, something that the Gunners cannot really afford to pay at this point in time having already spent a fortune on new signings.
Mikel Arteta might be desperate for a new winger but he can’t overspend on Fati. As a result, a deal between Arsenal and Barcelona for the 20-year-old seems unlikely.
