AC Milan are keen on Armando Broja this summer as they seek a striker to complement and support Olivier Giroud.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan are in the running to sign Armando Broja from Chelsea before the window shuts. Stefano Pioli wants a new striker to support and complement Olivier Giroud, with their other options not suited to lead the line.
Armando Broja is yet to flourish at Chelsea fully and suffered a significant injury last season that scuppered his development. The problem occurred after he signed a new long-term deal to stay at Stamford Bridge, as many were eager to see how he performed at the club after a promising time at Southampton the season before.
He is steadily returning to full fitness and will probably start the season down in the Chelsea pecking order. For now, Nicolas Jackson leads the line for the club, and if Broja remains fit, he could deputise for the Senegalese striker. There is considerable interest in the forward, with West Ham United keeping tabs.
Hence, the chances of the 21-year-old Chelsea homegrown forward departing on loan or permanently seem remote at this stage. Their stance could change if they manage to bring a new striker before the window shuts, especially now that they have found their priority midfield target in Moises Caicedo by paying £115 million to Brighton.
AC Milan have come forward with an interest in Broja, with the English media insisting the Serie A giants want to explore a loan with an option to buy. Milan are keen to add a new striker to support Olivier Giroud up front.
The Serie A giants tried many options last season, including Divock Origi and Ante Rebic, with both failing to produce the desired results. Their summer signing, Noah Okafor, also seems more suited to a wide role than central.
While AC MIlan might make an informal approach for Broja, the chances of the 21-year-old Chelsea homegrown forward leaving are slim. The Blues could look to integrate the Albanian into their plans and make him a regular for years to come.
Milan might look at Everton target Hugo Ekitike or some other player available between now and the end of the window. As for Broja, they could keep tabs in the foreseeable future and possibly sniff out an opportunity whenever he becomes available.
