Leeds United are ready to pay ‘big money’ to sign Liverpool defender Nat Phillips to cover for the injury to Liam Cooper.

According to Football Insider, Leeds United are ready to make a bid for Nat Phillips in the coming days. The Whites are willing to pay ‘big money’ to sign the 26-year-old Liverpool ace, with the Merseysiders open to permanently selling the centre-back.

Jurgen Klopp has not mainly counted upon Nat Phillips in recent years. He is currently part of their squad, but for how much longer? The 26-year-old made only five appearances for the club last season and is not in Jurgen Klopp’s current plans.

Liverpool are open to a sale and not planning on loaning the defender to anyone. With the tall pecking order ahead and Klopp possibly bringing in another centre-back, Phillips should find a new challenge.

Feyenoord had an interest earlier, but that’s no longer the case. Several Premier League and Championship sides have also looked at the 26-year-old Liverpool ace. Yet, none have come forward with a proper approach.

Leeds United were in talks with Liverpool for Phillips recently and could advance in negotiations by making an offer. The Championship side are ready to pay ‘big money’ to sign the 26-year-old in the coming days, but the figures involved remain unclear.

Liverpool knows how to extract top value for their players in the window and will do so again with Phillips. Leeds United recently signed Tottenham’s Joe Rodon on loan. They returned to the market after Liam Cooper got sidelined for over 8 weeks.

There has to be a limit to how much Leeds are willing to pay for Phillips. Liverpool have asked for absurd figures for their unwanted players in the past. Considering how little the 26-year-old has played in the last few years, the price must be nominal.

Leeds needs a defender, and Phillips could fit their bill. The defender would like to resurrect his career after a dull inactivity while at Liverpool. This move could materialise in the coming days and will depend on the money the Championship side offer for the defender.

    Big money, (LOL) probably £8m.

  2. We need to stop telling the world what we are doing and who we want to loan or buy. Nobody is interested in 90% of the players we want until we at Leeds shout WE WANT YOU, then we loose em.. Add the fact that we are and always have been so bloody slow at getting transfers done it is no wonder miss all our potential targets. On top of this why o why do we insist on selling our best
at less than 50% of their true value. We are willing to sell Gnonto for 20mil and who the hell are we able to buy with that a couple of other clubs rejects
