Leeds United are pushing hard to acquire the services of 26-year-old Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips before the end of the transfer window.

According to Rudy Galetti, Leeds United are keen on having Nat Phillips in their ranks and they have been in talks with Liverpool over a potential transfer. The talks between the two clubs are in advanced stages and they could reach an agreement in the near future.

Leeds haven’t had the best of times of late. They struggled throughout the 2022-23 season and ended up getting relegated to the English second division. The drop to the Championship has resulted in a huge financial setback and quite a few of their players have left the club on a temporary basis because of a relegation clause.

Maximilian Wöber is one of the players who has left the back just six months after joining them. The 25-year-old Austrian centre-back joined them from RB Salzburg in the winter of 2023. Leeds were struggling defensively and wanted reinforcement to try and survive in the top flight.

They managed to land the Austrian international but still couldn’t avoid the drop. With the 25-year-old leaving them on a season-long loan to Borussia Mönchengladbach, they are in desperate need of a new centre-back. And, have their eyes set on Liverpool’s Nat Phillips who has a similar profile.

The 26-year-old centre-back joined the Merseyside club back in 2016. He has since come up the ranks at the club and has been a part of their first team for a while now. Phillips has been subject to multiple loan moves over the years.

However, last season he was at the club but was involved in just five matches and was on the pitch for just over 200 minutes. The 26-year-old hardly had any game time and it is not expected to change in the upcoming season. As a result, a move away from the club could help their cause.

The Merseyside club are now pushing for a new centre-back and are ready to offload the English defender. They have been in talks with Leeds and there could be an agreement in the near future. While a few details are still being discussed, the deal is expected to be worth £10 million plus add-ons.
