Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing 30-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti this summer.

According to Foot Mercato, Chelsea are hoping to sign Marco Verratti before the summer transfer window closes. The Italian international is also a target for several other clubs amid uncertainties surrounding his Paris Saint-Germain future.

The Blues are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements, and Verratti should prove to be a quality acquisition. The 30-year-old is at the peak of his powers, and he could improve Chelsea immensely in the middle of the park. The Italian international could form a quality partnership with Enzo Fernandez.

Chelsea have recently sanctioned the departure of N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic. They will have to replace those players adequately and have been linked with the likes of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia as well. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can sign the two players before the summer transfer window closes.

Chelsea will be desperate to bounce back strongly and qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season. They had a disappointing 2022/23 campaign, finishing 12th in the league table. Such a finish is not acceptable for a club of their stature, and the Blues will look to make amends in the upcoming season.

The 30-year-old has the technical ability and experience to thrive in the Premier League, and he should be able to make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge if the move goes through.
