Manchester United reportedly lead the race to sign priority defensive target Benjamin Pavard, with Bayern Munich demanding €30 million for him.

According to reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Benjamin Pavard is the subject of interest from Manchester United. And the Red Devils are the front-runners in the race to sign the French international. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich will demand €30 million to sell him. And a separate report has revealed that the player is the priority target to replace Harry Maguire.

Benjamin Pavard has been one of the most highly-rated defenders in the world for over half a decade. The 27-year-old has garnered countless admirers due to his versatility. And he is already a serial winner after lifting trophies like the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA Champions League, and the Bundesliga.

The French international has turned out over 150 times thus far for Bayern Munich, chipping in with 12 goals and 12 assists. But Pavard entered the final year of his contract last month, with his situation capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. And Manchester United will look to secure his services in the ongoing transfer window.

Manchester United entered the summer transfer window looking to part ways with Harry Maguire. The English international had dropped to the bottom of the pecking order for centre-back by the time the 2022/23 season ended. And things went from bad to worse when Erik ten Hag stripped him of the captaincy.

So it behoved the 30-year-old to end his Manchester United stint this summer. And Maguire is on the verge of joining West Ham United. And Florian Plettenberg has suggested that the Red Devils are the front-runners to secure his services. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich will demand around €30 million to part ways with him.
