Chelsea are keen on having 24-year-old Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams in their ranks and they have started making moves.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are desperate to bolster their midfield before the end of the ongoing transfer window. The Blues have been interested in Tyler Adams of late and they have started laying the foundation for a potential deal for the Leeds United midfielder.
The Blues have been focused on offloading players in the ongoing transfer window. They had spent a fortune on new players over the past two transfer windows and had a huge squad at their disposal last season. As a result, they decided to offload some of their senior players who were not in their plans moving ahead.
While selling players has helped them raise a significant amount of funds, it has also resulted in a loss of quality and depth. Chelsea have lost a lot of experience and quality in the centre of the park. The departure of Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic has forced them to look for new midfielders.
Their priority is to land Brighton’s 21-year-old midfield sensation Moises Caicedo. They have been making moves to sign him for a while now but haven’t succeeded yet. Despite having numerous bids rejected, the Blues are all still pushing hard for the signatures of Caicedo.
They are also looking for another defensive midfielder alongside the 21-year-old. Chelsea recently shortlisted Tyler Adams as a potential target. And, of late they have started making moves to sign him.
Leeds United had a poor outing last season and ended up getting relegated. Their relegation to the Championship has resulted in uncertainty over the future of the 24-year-old. Adams has a relegation clause in his contract, as a result, a departure just 12 months after joining them is a real possibility.
While Leeds United struggled throughout last season, Adams did his bit for sure. And, his injury was a major reason for their relegation. He ended up missing the last part of the season and that was a major blow for the team.
The 24-year-old could now join Chelsea before the end of the transfer window. The Blues are in talks with the Championship club as well as the player’s entourage. They are looking to close the deal as soon as possible.
