PSG formulating offer to sign Ansu Fati from Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly look to sign 20-year-old Spanish international Ansu Fati from Barcelona after landing Ousmane Dembele.

According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Ansu Fati is the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain. The Ligue 1 champions currently remain focused on signing Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona. But they will turn their attention towards Fati once the deal for Dembele concludes.

Ansu Fati has suffered a disastrous fall from grace in the last few seasons. The 20-year-old became the second-youngest debutant in Barcelona’s illustrious history when he made his first-team bow several years ago. And pundits and fans alike viewed him as the long-term heir to Lionel Messi following his exploits.

But the Spanish international has regressed after suffering multiple long-term injuries. And while Fati has a decent record of 29 goals and ten assists in 109 appearances thus far for Barcelona, his performance levels have dropped. So it is hardly surprising that widespread reports have pointed to a possible summer departure from Barcelona.

The young attacker remains highly rated in the market despite his dropping stature at his current club. Several Premier League clubs have considered securing his services in the ongoing transfer window. And he has now emerged as the subject of interest from PSG over a possible summer move.

The Ligue 1 champions have been a thorn in Barcelona’s side since they raided the Blaugrana for Neymar half a dozen years ago. And while transfer dealings between the two clubs have reduced of late, Lionel Messi also joined PSG after leaving Barcelona. And Ousmane Dembele will likely become the latest player to swap Camp Nou for Parc des Princes.

But PSG might not be done poaching Barcelona for attacking talent. And Ansu Fati has now popped up on Les Parisiens’ radar over a possible summer move. The report has also claimed that they are preparing a bid to sign the 20-year-old from Barcelona this summer.

However, widespread reports have suggested that Fati does not want to leave Barcelona anytime soon. The issue for the Spanish international is a lack of game time at the Catalan club. So it will be interesting to see if the 20-year-old reunites with Dembele at PSG this summer.
