Joan Laporta is reportedly pushing Barcelona to re-sign Brazilian international Neymar on loan from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
According to Gerard Romero on Jijantes FC, Neymar has offered himself to Barcelona multiple times. And his agent Pini Zahavi has suggested that the operation to re-sign the player will be a loan deal. Meanwhile, Joan Laporta wants Barcelona to land the Brazilian international, but Xavi Hernandez is reluctant to sanction a move.
Neymar has endured a rollercoaster ride since joining Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona in a world-record deal. Les Parisiens had shocked the world by shelling out an unprecedented €222 million to secure his services. But injury woes have meant that the 31-year-old has not justified the outlay that PSG made to land him.
2022/23 was another injury-riddled campaign for the Brazilian international. But he contributed to 35 goals in just 29 appearances, finding the back of the net 18 times while providing 17 assists. However, Neymar’s future at PSG is uncertain, with Les Parisiens ready to cash in on him. And the player has offered his services to his former club Barcelona.
Gerard Romero has revealed that the former Santos prodigy has offered himself to Barcelona multiple times. But the Catalan club’s economic conditions might put a spanner in the works. It has now emerged that finances might pose a problem, with Pini Zahavi suggesting the operation to re-sign him will be a loan deal.
But Xavi Hernandez has reportedly pushed back the idea of securing Neymar’s services this summer. While the Brazilian international will undoubtedly bolster the Barcelona attack, Xavi reckons the player can distort the dressing room atmosphere. So he is reluctant to sanction a move for his former teammate this summer.
However, Xavi might be in the minority at the Catalan club, with Joan Laporta pushing for a deal. The report claims that the Barcelona president is eager to oversee a loan move for the 31-year-old. But it is unclear if a deal will see the light of day if Xavi remains hesitant to land him.
Recent reports have also linked Neymar with several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea. But the Brazilian international does not want to move to Stamford Bridge this summer. And it will be interesting to see if he gets his desired transfer to his former club Barcelona.
