Intermediaries have reportedly offered Barcelona the opportunity to re-sign Neymar, but Xavi Hernandez will not sanction a move.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will have the chance to re-sign Neymar in the ongoing transfer window. Intermediaries have offered the Brazilian international to the Blaugrana. But Xavi Hernandez will not give the green light to a deal, as he does not want to distort the harmony in the dressing room.

Neymar has had a bizarre career thus far. The 31-year-old was supposed to be Lionel Messi’s heir at FC Barcelona and in the grand scheme of things in the footballing world. But like Wayne Rooney before him, he will likely end his career as a classic case of “What could have been”, despite being a top-class performer throughout his playing days.

The Brazilian international is indubitably one of the best players in the world like Rooney was in his time. But he has arguably failed to realise his potential, especially since his world-record move to Paris Saint-Germain. Injuries have played a large part in Neymar’s failure to reach the promised land.

But PSG would have expected much more from him after spending a staggering €222 million to sign him from Barcelona. Neymar’s run-ins with Kylian Mbappe have not helped either. However, he has still made his mark on the pitch, contributing to 35 goals last season. He found the back of the net 18 times and provided 17 assists in just 29 appearances.

However, Neymar’s PSG future is uncertain, with Les Parisiens ready to cash in on him. According to widespread reports, it seems he is also willing to leave, having offered himself to his former club Barcelona. And the Catalan giants have received the opportunity to re-sign the Brazilian international through intermediaries.

Neymar’s ability in the final third has not diminished. But Barcelona will not re-sign him this summer, as Xavi Hernandez does not want to distort the atmosphere in the dressing room. So a dream return to Camp Nou will unlikely materialise this summer.

Meanwhile, the 31-year-old Brazilian does not have a shortage of suitors, with Chelsea among the interested clubs. But recent reports have claimed that the player does not want to join the West London outfit. So it will be interesting to see where Neymar plies his trade next season.
