Chelsea are reportedly prepared to trigger Tyler Adams’ £20 million release clause as Mauricio Pochettino eyes quick midfield reinforcements.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are willing to trigger Tyler Adams’ release clause and pay Leeds United £20 million. There’s sufficient interest from other Premier League sides in the USMNT captain as Mauricio Pochettino eyes swift midfield signings in the coming days.

Chelsea fans are seemingly worried about their club’s midfield depth ahead of the season opener, as there have not been many positive updates. The Blues remain linked with several players, but Moises Caicedo remains their priority target.

Despite having the confidence to get a deal done, Chelsea have failed with three bids and now planning to make a fourth offer for the Brighton star. The Seagulls continue to hold on to their massive £100 million-plus valuations, which the Blues struggle to comprehend.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino is keen to bolster his thin-looking midfield and bring in other stars to add depth. There were rumours about Chelsea cooling their pursuit of Caicedo, but there have been links to Leandro Paredes, among others.

Chelsea have also remained interested in Tyler Adams, who may appear like an easy target with his release clause. The Blues are now prepared to pay what’s required to sign the 24-year-old midfielder from Leeds United, which could cost them £20 million.

Pochettino wants added depth for now as he must continue with Enzo Fernandez, Conor Gallagher, and Brazilian youngster Andrey Santos as his midfield options. Hence, Chelsea are open to paying Adams’ £20 million release clause, with the 24-year-old midfielder keen to join them, possibly over other suitors.

Aston Villa also retains an interest in the midfielder and could provide him with more guarantees of regular minutes. However, if Chelsea eventually signs Caicedo, Adams may have to permanently play as a backup to one of their central midfielders.

With Chelsea open to triggering the 24-year-old midfielder’s release clause, the USMNT captain must make a wise choice to further his career. Chelsea are a brilliant option for any player, but in the current trajectory, they have the names to start in their midfield for the season without European football.
