Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven is expected to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer in a deal worth €50 million.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have now agreed on a €50 million deal to sign Micky van de Ven from Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg. The Dutch defender is set to travel to London for his medical now.

The 22-year-old has been a key player for Wolfsburg this past season, and his performances have caught the attention of Spurs. The North London giants need to bring in defensive reinforcements this summer, and van de Ven should prove to be a quality long-term acquisition.

The Dutch defender has shown his quality in the Bundesliga, and he is certainly good enough to succeed in the Premier League as well. The 22-year-old is quite impressive on the ball and will add some much-needed pace to the Tottenham backline as well.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou prefers free-flowing attacking football and Spurs could certainly use his recovery pace to stop counterattacks.

The reported €50 million deal seems quite expensive right now. But the 22-year-old is a tremendous talent with a big future ahead of him. The Dutchman could prove to be a key player for Spurs in the coming seasons, and he could justify the investment in the long run.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have been linked with other defenders as well, and it remains to be seen whether they decide to bring in more than just one central midfielder this summer. The opportunity to showcase his qualities in the Premier League will be quite exciting for the young defender, and he will look to hit the ground running and make his mark in English football.

Tottenham conceded 63 goals in the league last season, and signing a defender was always their top priority. It remains to be seen whether they can strengthen the other areas of their squad now before the new season starts.

Edmond Tapsoba, Tosin Adarabioyo and Gleison Bremer have been linked with a move to Tottenham as well. Meanwhile, the North London club have agreed on a deal to sign Ashley Phillips from Blackburn Rovers, and the 18-year-old is likely to be an important first-team player for them in the coming season as well.
