Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly fallen behind Everton in the race to sign Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.

According to a report by Football Insider, Harry Maguire is the subject of interest from Everton. And the Toffees have leapfrogged Chelsea, Tottenham, and West Ham United in the race to sign the Manchester United defender. The 30-year-old, currently on £200,000-a-week wages, will likely depart from Old Trafford in the ongoing transfer window.

Harry Maguire was one of the best defenders in the world not too long ago. A pivotal figure for his club and country, the English international came leaps and bounds during his stint with Leicester City. And he did not take long to become a mainstay at the back for Manchester United after joining them in a deal worth £80 million and penning a £200,000-a-week contract.

The 30-year-old continued to go from strength to strength in the initial months, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appointing him as the Manchester United captain. But Maguire, who has made 175 appearances for Manchester United, faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford. And after falling in the pecking order and losing his captaincy, the situation has alerted Chelsea, Tottenham, and Everton.

Chelsea recently expressed interest in securing Maguire’s services. But the Blues might have cooled their interest in the experienced Englishman after signing Axel Disasi. However, Chelsea might have anyway fallen behind in the race to sign the Manchester United defender.

As for Tottenham, the North London giants have been pressing to secure Maguire’s services this summer. And the club’s interest is hardly surprising, considering the inconsistencies of Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, and Japhet Tanganga. The Manchester United defender is thus a viable target, considering his extensive experience in the Premier League.

But Tottenham and Chelsea have fallen behind Everton in the race to sign the 30-year-old. The Toffees have recently entered the chase for the English international. And with Yerry Mina and Conor Coady departing from Goodison Park, Maguire can be a game-changing addition as James Tarkowski’s partner.

Meanwhile, apart from Everton, Chelsea, and Tottenham, Maguire is also a target for West Ham United. Manchester United even rejected a bid worth £20 million from the Hammers. And it looks like Everton might win the race to sign the Englishman, although it is unclear if they will match his £200,000-a-week wages.
