Aston Villa plotting Samuel Iling-Junior swoop

Aston Villa will reportedly look to sign English teenage sensation Samuel Iling-Junior from Serie A giants Juventus this summer.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Samuel Iling-Junior is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans are competing with Everton for the English teenage sensation. Meanwhile, Serie A giants Juventus will demand around €25 million to part ways with the young winger.

Samuel Iling-Junior is the latest example of the new generation of English prospects who are not afraid of moving abroad to make progress early in their playing days. The Islington native spent a decade in Chelsea’s famed academy before ending his youth career at Juventus. And after rising through the ranks at the Serie A club, he made his first-team debut last year.

The 19-year-old gradually rose in stature in the Juventus first team and is one of the best young prospects in Serie A. The English teenage sensation has made 18 appearances for the Bianconeri, chipping in with one goal and two assists. And he might be set to become a regular for Juventus in the upcoming season. But several Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa, are keen on signing him.

The former Chelsea academy ace has been on the radar of several Premier League clubs for a long time. And Manchester City previously showed interest in securing his services. But the report by Calciomercato has suggested that Aston Villa and Everton are the most serious suitors for his signature.

The Villans have been active in the market this summer, making some eye-catching signings. And after the arrival of Pau Torres, Youri Tielemans, and Moussa Diaby, Unai Emery does not want to rest on his laurels. So Aston Villa will continue pursuing more players in the ongoing transfer window.

Bolstering the attack is seemingly a priority for Aston Villa, with Adama Traore recently emerging as a target. And with Leon Bailey facing an uncertain future at Villa Park, it behoves the Midlands club to invest in a young wide attacker. Samuel Iling-Junior is thus an option worth considering. And Aston Villa should be able to afford Juventus’s price tag of €25 million.

€25 million is an acceptable price to pay for an English teenage sensation. And with Iling-Junior showing promising signs early in his professional career, he is an attractive target for Aston Villa. It will be interesting to see if the Villans beat Everton to his signature.
