Real Sociedad negotiating loan deal for Donny van de Beek

Real Sociedad are keen to bring Donny van de Beek on a loan deal from Manchester United, but an agreement is far from close.

According to MARCA, Real Sociedad are negotiating a loan deal with Manchester United for Donny van de Beek. The forgotten midfielder has no future at Old Trafford, and the club are eager to find a solution, which could lead them to consider the loan plus option to buy from the Spanish side.

Donny van de Beek’s career has tumbled year on year since joining Manchester United. After a promising time at Ajax, the midfielder came to Old Trafford on a €40 million deal with the idea of becoming a star. But things have gone sideways for the Dutchman.

He found difficulties breaking into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, which continued under former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag. A loan spell to Everton did not work, and his stock continually declined. He does not feature in the manager’s plans for the upcoming season despite some decent displays during pre-season.

There have been clubs keen on signing him, with AC Milan being one of those interested. However, the Italian giants have already secured Ruben Loftus-Cheek and may not experiment further unless a more established option is available in the market.

Crystal Palace have admired van de Beek for a while. But they have not advanced with their interest. Now, La Liga club Real Sociedad have come into the mix and are already negotiating with Manchester United to take the midfielder on loan.

Real Sociedad would ideally take him in a season-long deal with an option to buy when the agreement ends. Manchester United will have to now include a proper fee for the Spanish side to consider. But they will have to remain mindful of the number quoted, as it can affect the deal.

Manchester United are a bit relaxed, considering van de Beek still has two years left on his contract, while the club can extend it by another season. Hence, Real Sociedad have made inroads in their efforts to take the 26-year-old on loan rather than a permanent deal.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are linked with Sofyan Amrabat. But the deal has slowed down due to their pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund. The Fiorentina star remains high on their list, as Ten Hag could resume the pursuit once they seal the deal for the Atalanta striker.
