Barcelona will likely call off the move to sign 20-year-old Arsenal prospect Miguel Azeez, with the youngster exploring other options.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Miguel Azeez remains the subject of interest from Barcelona. But the Catalan giants will prioritise other positions at the behest of reserve team boss Rafael Marquez. And the 20-year-old Arsenal prospect is now exploring alternate options in the market.

Miguel Azeez has been with Arsenal for a decade and a half. The England under-20 international joined the North London club as a five-year-old and spent his formative years with them. But he has not been able to establish a foothold in the Arsenal first team since making his debut in December 2020.

That outing in the UEFA Europa League remains Azeez’s only first-team appearance for Arsenal. And the 20-year-old has embarked on short-term loan spells to Portsmouth, UD Ibiza, and Wigan Athletic in the last two years. But the youngster’s time at Arsenal might be close to ending as he looks to kick-start his professional career.

Widespread reports have linked the young Englishman with several clubs across Europe. But the most interesting prospect came from Barcelona, albeit the Catalan club’s reserve team. And reports earlier this month suggested they were ready to launch the offensive to sign the 20-year-old Arsenal prospect.

The reigning La Liga champions have been busy reinforcing the first-team squad this summer. And they have struck three cost-effective deals thus far. But the decision-makers are also looking to bolster the Barcelona Atletic team, with Rafael Marquez demanding clever solutions from the market.

However, they have recently faced defeat in the race to sign a few targets, including Tudor Mendel-Idowu, who has joined Anderlecht. And Barcelona will unlikely secure the services of Miguel Azeez, with Marquez asking the club to prioritise other positions instead of midfield.

Meanwhile, the 20-year-old Arsenal prospect is not waiting for Barcelona either. And he has already started exploring alternate options in the market as he looks to kick-start his career. So it will be interesting to see where the young midfielder lands in the ongoing transfer window.
