20-year-old Arsenal whizkid Miguel Azeez has reportedly emerged on the radar of Barcelona over a possible move this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Miguel Azeez is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants want to assign the 20-year-old Arsenal whizkid to the reserve side. And they want to sign him on a free transfer while handing Arsenal a sell-on clause in the agreement.

Miguel Azeez is a native of Camden and has been with Arsenal throughout his formative years. The English youth international joined the North London club as a five-year-old in 2008 and has since made considerable progress. But after coming through the youth division, he has embarked on three short-term loan spells, the latest coming at Wigan Athletic.

The 20-year-old made his first-team debut for Arsenal as an 18-year-old in December 2020. But that is the only first-team appearance Azeez has made for the North London club. And the young midfielder’s Arsenal future is uncertain, as he has entered the final year of his contract. Meanwhile, the situation has captured the attention of Barcelona.

The Catalan giants have been closely monitoring the progress of the Arsenal whizkid for a long time. And Barcelona will assign the youngster to the reserve side if they secure his services. But they do not want to pay a transfer fee to secure Azeez’s services this summer. And they will instead look to include a sell-on clause to sweeten the deal for Arsenal.

The newly-crowned La Liga champions are renowned for constantly scouring the market for young prospects. Such an outlook has helped Barcelona strengthen the first team and the reserve side for years. And they have recently been showing interest in promising youngsters like Arda Guler and Vitor Roque.

Miguel Azeez has now emerged as a target for Barcelona. But instead of promoting him to the first team, the 20-year-old will instead join Barcelona Atletic if he moves to the Catalan club. However, it is unclear if Arsenal will be ready to forego a transfer fee to seal an agreement with the Blaugrana.

For now, Azeez is an option to bolster the reserve team at the Catalan club. And it will be interesting to see if Barcelona and Arsenal find a middle ground during negotiations for the 20-year-old whizkid.

Why has he not been loaned out to a low division team to get experience. Something strange about that one. If he goes to barcelona for free and he becomes a good player,Arsenal get nothing unless barcelona decide to sell him. Win win for Barcelona!
