Tottenham will likely lodge an offer to secure the services of 26-year-old Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie from Barcelona this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Franck Kessie is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. And the North London giants are considering a formal bid to sign the 26-year-old in the ongoing transfer window. The Barcelona midfielder is also a target for Serie A giants Juventus this summer.

Franck Kessie has endured a frustrating start to his stint with Barcelona. The Ivorian midfielder left AC Milan as a free agent last summer before completing a move to Spotify Camp Nou. But the transfer has not worked as well as he would have envisioned, as he was down the pecking order.

The 26-year-old has managed 43 appearances thus far for Barcelona. But a closer inspection reveals that he has not even amassed 2,000 minutes of game time. And with Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, and Ilkay Gundogan likely to be ahead of the player in the preference order, his prospects will unlikely improve. Kessie’s Barcelona future is thus uncertain.

Kessie’s situation has not gone unnoticed either, with several high-profile clubs keen on signing him. And recent reports have heavily linked the Ivory Coast international with Juventus. But the Barcelona midfielder is also a target for many Premier League outfits, with Tottenham considering a bid.

Reports from earlier this year suggested Tottenham had made enquiries about Kessie’s availability. But the North London giants have been dawdling in the background since then, with Juventus taking the lead in the race. The situation might change now amid uncertainties surrounding Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s future.

The report claims Tottenham and Barcelona have been in contact, with the Premier League club warning the Blaugrana of a possible offer. And the report claims the 26-year-old is open to moving to the Premier League, giving Tottenham an advantage over Juventus.

Kessie’s stance makes sense, considering he has already played extensively in Serie A. So if he has to leave Barcelona this summer, it behoves him to embark on a new adventure in a new league as he looks to resurrect his stuttering career. It will be interesting to see if the Ivorian midfielder moves to Tottenham this summer.
