Manchester United are considering reigniting their pursuit of the 29-year-old Tottenham Hotspur skipper Harry Kane.

According to a report by The Guardian, Manchester United have been interested in the services of Harry Kane for a while now. The 29-year-old striker was their priority heading into the summer window. But because of a few reasons, they had to drop their interest in the England international.

However, on the back of some interesting development in the Tottenham Hotspur camp, the Red Devils could once again enter the race for the services of the Spurs striker, who bagged 32 goals last season.

Manchester United have already signed Mason Mount and Andre Onana in the ongoing transfer window. The arrival of Onana has sorted out the goalkeeping, while Mount’s arrival adds depth and quality to their midfield. With the two major areas sorted, they are now keen on signing a new number nine.

At the start of the window, the Red Devils were pushing hard for the services of Harry Kane. They were involved in discussions with the London club but because of the difficulty in negotiations with Daniel Levy, and the fact that he was not ready to sell to a rival club, Erik Ten Hag’s team decided to shift their focus elsewhere.

Manchester United have been focused on Atalanta’s Rasmus Højlund. They might not have placed an official bid. But the Red Devils have been in talks with the Italian club for a while. And, they are all set to put forward an official offer in the coming days.

Meanwhile, they are considering reviving their interest in Harry Kane. And, this is because of an interesting development at Spurs. Their chairman Daniel Levy has been informed by the club’s majority owner, Joe Lewis that Kane’s future needs to be sorted in the ongoing window.

Lewis has made it clear to Levy that the 29-year-old cannot be allowed to run down his contract and leave for free next summer. As a result, Tottenham will either have to convince him to pen down the new lucrative deal that they have put forward or sell him to the highest bidder.

The London club are looking for a fee of around £100 million. And Manchester United might not have that big a problem paying that big a sum. However, they might struggle with the £30 million a year wages that the player wants because of the new wage structure. If the Red Devils do enter the race for the 29-year-old, they will have to compete with German giants Bayern Munich, who have been in talks with Spurs for a while now.
