PSG open talks to sign Rasmus Hojlund

Paris Saint-Germain have opened talks to acquire the services of 20-year-old Manchester United target Rasmus Hojlund.

According to L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain are keen on having Rasmus Hojlund in their ranks ahead of next season. The French giants are looking for attacking reinforcement, and the 20-year-old striker is at the top of their list. The youngster is also a target for Manchester United.

Lionel Messi’s departure has already left a major void in attack and on top of that, the Kylian Mbappe situation is not getting any better. The French international is expected to be sold in the ongoing window. As a result, PSG are focused on signing new forwards. While they have acquired to services of winger Marco Asensio, they still need to sign a number nine and have their eyes set on Hojlund.

The 20-year-old joined Atalanta last summer from Sturm Graz. He has gone from strength to strength since making the move. The Danish international has put in some impressive performances that have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.

He was involved in a total of 42 matches last season and was on the pitch for just over 2,500 minutes. In his very first season in Italy, the 20-year-old found the back of the net on 16 occasions and also contributed with seven assists. These include a few games for Sturm Graz.

Manchester United are one of the top clubs interested in Hojlund. The Red Devils have been in talks over a potential deal for the Danish international ever since the season ended. Erik ten Hag is looking for a new number nine ahead of next season, and his primary target is the 20-year-old. While the player is keen on joining the English club, Manchester United cannot really push for him without offloading a number of players.

They have already spent a significant part of their transfer budget on signing Andre Onana and Mason Mount. As a result, pushing for Hojlund’s services depends on outgoings. Meanwhile, Atalanta have placed an £80 million price tag on the Danish sensation.

PSG have started making moves as they look to hijack the deal. Their transfer chief Luis Campos has been in contact with the player’s representatives over a potential deal. PSG are very serious about their pursuit. And if the player agrees to a move, they might end up meeting Atalanta’s price tag,
