West Ham United are set to sign Manchester City talent Carlos Borges to bolster their attack, with the winger likely to cost £14 million.

According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United are closing in on Carlos Borges. The Manchester City prodigy is valued at £14 million, with the Hammers likely to pay and add him to their setup. The 19-year-old attacking prodigy could become the latest high-profile talent to earn Pep Guardiola’s side big money.

Manchester City continues to forge a reputation of p[producing some of the best talents in English football. They have been on the ropes for selling some of the best youngsters at a premium, with Carlos Borges set to leave the club in a big-money move to West Ham United.

Gavin Bazunu, Liverpool target Romeo Lavia and James Trafford are a few of the names that come to mind when considering such talents. Manchester City have made a handsome profit off their academy talents, and plenty more will come.

In the case of Lavia, Manchester City were smart to insert a £40 million buy-back clause, which becomes active next summer. If Southampton fails to sell the Belgian in this window, Pep Guardiola’s side will come into pole position to re-sign him.

Similarly, they have a buy-back clause inserted in Trafford’s deal, as he is inches away from signing for Burnley. They might consider a similar approach with Portuguese talent Borges, who is now on the verge of signing for West Ham United.

The Hammers have arrived in a good market position following the sale of Declan Rice. While they may have received only part of the £105 million for the midfielder, the sum guarantee could let them rebuild their squad for the next phase.

They remain linked with several midfielders, even some ambitious targets. Joao Palhinha seems like their priority target. But others like Denis Zakaria, Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse also feature on their list. AS Monaco star Youssouf Fofana also emerged on their shortlist, and could replace Rice.

Meanwhile, David Moyes would like to sign at least two midfielders, with the manager targetting a young up-and-coming talent. Alex Scott remains linked with the Hammers and could significantly impact if he signs. Similarly, they are also keen to bolster their attacking setup, so they moved to sign Borges.

At £14 million, it is a steep price for a player yet to feature in the Premier League. However, the quality of the 19-year-old attacking prodigy has Moyes convinced he could become a bright player in the coming years. However, Man City still have a say on his future with a possible buy-back clause.

Borges can look forward to creating his future and featuring regularly for the Hammers. He could gain valuable experience and may have looked at the development of stars like Jarrod Bowen before deciding to join West Ham United.
