Omari Hutchinson is all set to join Ipswich Town on a season-long loan spell as Chelsea plans the next step in his promising career.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Omari Hutchinson is set to join Championship side Ipswich Town on a season-long loan spell. The 19-year-old is eager for regular minutes at the senior level, but Chelsea would prefer to send him away to gauge his talent.

There have been suggestions that Omari Hutchinson took the wrong decision to leave a promising Arsenal ladder to join Chelsea. The 19-year-old wonderkid expected to break into Mikel Arteta’s team in the next few years but left the Gunners untimely.

While many expected to see Hutchinson play decent minutes at Chelsea last season, he predominantly featured for the Premier League 2 side. For the first team, he made two appearances, one each in the league and FA Cup.

Contrary to the belief that he made the wrong call to join Chelsea, the Blues are planning the 19-year-old’s future the right way. As has been the case with many promising youngsters in the past, the Stamford Bridge outfit are preparing to send Hutchinson away on loan.

Newly-promoted Championship side Ipswich Town are advancing in talks with Chelsea to take Hutchioson for the upcoming season. He could get regular minutes at the second-tier side and make a case for himself to play regular football at Stamford Bridge from 2024 onwards.

Chelsea will reportedly insert a break clause that will become valid in the January window if they need to recall him from Ipswich. Furthermore, the Blues have not included Hutchinson in their pre-season tour to the US.

They have also planned a similar route to some of their other promising youngsters signed in the last two transfer window. Recent arrival Angelo Gabriel could also move out with Strasbourg pencilled to take the youngster.

Carney Chukwuemeka, who joined alongside Hutchinson, remains part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans. He, alongside Brazilian talent Andrey Santos, have travelled with the first-team squad for the pre-season tour.

Hutchinson may feel aggrieved by the decision to omit him from the pre-season tour. However, he will look forward to playing regular minutes with Ipswich. He could make a case for himself with some brilliant performances and realise the talent everyone expected him to have.
