Aston Villa have been linked with a move for the Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby, and they have submitted an improved bid.

A report from Florian Plettenberg claims that Aston Villa have now tabled an improved bid of around €50 million to sign French international Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

However, the Bundesliga giants are holding out for a fee of around €60 million for their prized asset. The Frenchman was in fantastic form this past season, contributing to 25 goals across all competitions.

He has the potential to develop into a top-class Premier League attacker. But it remains to be seen whether the German outfit are prepared to reach a compromise with Aston Villa. The second offer is still well short of Leverkusen’s €60 million valuation. So it is fair to assume that the German club could turn it down once again. Aston Villa have already had an opening offer turned down for the winger.

Aston Villa need to bring in quality attacking reinforcements this summer, and Diaby would be a key player for them. The 24-year-old is entering the peak years of his career, and he will look to play his best football at the West Midlands club.

He has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia as well. So it remains to be seen whether Aston Villa can secure his services before the summer transfer window closes. The opportunity to play in the Premier League will be hard to turn down for the 24-year-old, as he will look to showcase his qualities at the highest level. And he is reportedly keen on joining Aston Villa.

The West Midlands club have an ambitious project, and they have a quality manager in Unai Emery. The Spanish manager has proven himself across Europe and he will look to help Aston Villa win trophies in the coming season.

It would not be surprising if Diaby is attracted to the prospect of playing at Villa Park next season. Aston Villa had to depend on Ollie Watkins for goals and creativity last season, and they need more options at their disposal. Diaby will certainly help share the attacking burden with Watkins.

The Frenchman scored 14 goals across all competitions, and he is versatile enough to play on either flank. He could be an asset for Aston Villa going forward. The French winger has the technical attributes to thrive in English football and he could make an immediate impact for the West Midlands club.
